When Culture Builds Confidence

It’s been just a few months since I joined SecurityPal, and looking back, it feels like I’ve undergone a complete transformation. The person who once saw himself as introverted, hesitant, and shy is now confidently engaging with people, speaking up, and feeling right at home — even in a room full of strangers. Honestly, I never thought I could change like this. But I did. And here’s how it happened.

At its core, this change wasn’t just about me — it was about the culture I walked into.

A Warm Welcome That Changed Everything

The first time I stepped into SecurityPal’s office, I didn’t know anyone. There were over 200 people in the building, and my introverted self was already nervous. But the moment I walked in, something unexpected happened — smiles, fist bumps, and kind greetings. Every person I crossed paths with approached me with warmth and energy, instantly making me feel welcome.

There’s even a unique “No Touch” policy — no handshakes or hugs, just friendly fist bumps and big smiles. At first, it felt different, but very quickly, it made complete sense. It created a space where boundaries were respected, but warmth and approachability were never lost. That day, I walked in nervous… and walked out smiling. I already felt connected.

Freedom to Be Yourself

One of the things that stood out to me early on was the adjustable working environment. You’re not bound to a desk. Want to work from a cozy corner, the lobby, a meeting room, or even the gaming zone? Go for it. The idea is simple: when you feel relaxed, you do your best work. And you don’t feel like work is a chore.

This kind of freedom changed my relationship with my work — it felt more enjoyable, more creative, and way less stressful.

A Culture of Growth, Not Judgment

Another pillar of SecurityPal’s culture is open, honest 1:1s. We’re encouraged to regularly talk about areas where we’re struggling, and instead of judgment, we get guidance. Constructive feedback flows constantly, which helps us grow twice as fast — not just professionally, but personally too.

I remember my first few 1:1s — I was nervous to talk about the things I felt unsure about. But the way my colleagues listened, shared their own stories, and gave actionable advice made me realize: everyone’s been there. And everyone wants to help each other get better.

No Bosses, Just Humans

Now here’s something that truly blew my mind: On my first day, I saw someone I had previously watched on Forbes interviews and podcasts, standing in front of me, casually talking to people — just like anyone else.

Yes, it was our CEO. And yes, he fist-bumped me too.

There was no hierarchy at that moment. No "boss" behavior. Just a human connection. And that wasn’t a one-time thing — it’s a reflection of the culture here. You can walk up to anyone, share your thoughts, ask questions, or simply have a chat. Titles don’t get in the way of conversation.

Up Menstrual Leave: A True reflection of family values at SecurityPal

One of the things that truly sets SecurityPal apart and makes me proud to be part of this incredible organization is its approach to menstrual leave. It’s not just a policy; it’s a testament to how deeply this company cares for its people, treating every employee like family.

In many workplaces, menstruation is often a silent struggle — something many employees feel the need to hide, avoid talking about, or push through without support. But here at SecurityPal, the company embraces it openly and compassionately. Menstrual leave is offered to women as a way to recognize and respect their well-being during a natural and often physically challenging time of the month.

Support That Builds You

Before joining, I had heard many stories from friends in other companies — stories about difficult managers, unrealistic expectations, and lack of support. I was mentally prepared for something similar.

But instead, I found something different. Leaders here are mentors, not managers. Every time I shared a challenge, I received not just a solution, but follow-ups, encouragement, and genuine care. They don’t just want me to do the job — they want to see me succeed.

Today, I look back at who I was just a few months ago and smile. The shift didn’t happen overnight, but it did happen — thanks to a culture that values human connection, psychological safety, and true growth.

When culture builds confidence, people flourish. I’m living proof of that.
